  • KISS quicky on Jay Leno
There was a KISS short on Jay Leno last night. Report by Robert Cavuoto
"Kiss was on the Jay Leno show last night for abot 30 seconds doing a skit with Jay about licking an envelope for a person in his studio audience. Kiss is backstage at the concert hall and Gene licks the envelope with his long tongue."

  • KISS at MTV Music Awards -- FULL Details!
    Here is the scoop:
KISS will play 5 songs and will arive at 10pm. The audience is suppsed to arrive at 8pm.
They will begin the song "Rock & Roll All Nite" at 10:55pm in time to close out the MTV Music Awards. There will not be a dress rehearsal the night before due to cash problems. KISS is supposed to arrive in NYC Tuesday night.

[KISS Asylum Note: Rock & Roll All Nite again? oh well...can't say you could not see it coming. I wish KISS could play something different....like "Shout It Out Loud" or something. I am sure it was MTV's decision. I hate the fact KISS seems to be ONLY known for that ONE song! Well at least KISS gets to end the show with a bang!!]

[KISS Asylum Note2: Word is is that this KISS performace is "Invitation Only" for those who attended the MTV Unplugged show. BUT I am sure if you dropped by...you probably could get in etc. Also, KISS' "Rock & Roll All Nite" will be the ONLY song shown on the MTV Music Awards.]

  • KISS on MTV Awards - "Details"
Got this info from a friend of mine:
"I can confirm for you that the band will play the Brooklyn bridge on Wednesday. The deal is that they're supposed to play on a barge in the Hudson River... the original idea was for them to play on the promenade deck (slightly under the bridge, but that got scrapped so that they could use pyro. Yesterday (Tuesday), someone at MTV finally had the brain to ask, "What if it rains?" They're going to try to get them to come in for a dress-rehearsal on Tuesday night, but that looks doubtful, due to scheduling and the many fans who'd have to show up two days in a row (not that we'd mind!).
[More info as I get it!!]

  • KISSnation Comic information
I got this email note from my buddy Dave Chystek today:
" I just spoke with Gene and with Mort Todd, the editor of KISSNation. We are going to be "heavilly" promoting the book in many different genres. There will probably be a WIZARD (thats a publication about comic books, largest one in fact) cover story on the band with a new cover from me, David Chlystek. It was a gas to see Kurt(I can't stand the guy)Loder promoting MY work.
I am also producing my own comic entitled BLUDGEON, which will be out in January, from Comicolor, it will be 24 pgs of pulse-pounding excitement. If you dig my stuff on KISSNation, Check it Out!!!! The forward for the first issue will be by the Demon himself, Gene $immons. (Thus endeth the plug)
I want to hear from every KISS fan out there on KISSNation, good or bad, and how we can improve the second one. You have my Onscreen address, please write.

[KISS Asylum Note: I will post Dave's email address in my KISS eMail section of this web site. You can contact him there and tell him what you think of KISSnation. I have been in contact with Dave for quite some time and he is really excited about this...so give him support and constructive criticism! Tell him The KISS Asylum sent you]

  • KISS segment on Jay Leno this week
I got this note from Jerry Cornish in my email box today:
" I went to the KISS show at the Forum out here in Los Angeles on Saturday. My friend and I had 4th row, center section seats on the aisle (right smack dab in front of Paul's mic stand). Anyway, before the show got started my friend and I were approached by a guy with lots of laminates around his neck. He asked us if we would talk to Jay Leno! I should tell you that my friend was decked-out in an Ace '75 Alive costume that his wife made and I was painted like the "Bandit". So this guy escorted us over to one of the entrances to the backstage area and had us wait. He then took my friend back first. When he came back out, he grabbed me by the arm an hurried me backstage. I was "thrown" in front of the camera and introduced to Jay Leno! NO preparation what-so-ever! He asked me about myself and launched into some general knowledge vs. KISS knowledge questions. I was asked things like, "who is the Starchild?", "who was the 1st man on the moon?" (I answered Ace Frehley, of course!), "what is KISS' latest record called?" etc. At the end of what seemed to be forever he asked, "and what member of KISS are you supposed to be exactly?", I told him and his response was, " OH...Paul Stanley beforrrrrre he was the Starchild"! I hope I don't get cut from the piece but if I do, you still have the inside scoop from someone who was there! P.S. By the way......Jay Leno's tan is a paint-job! And it's true what they say about T.V. adding pounds to you - he is much thinner in person.
(They did not say when it would air - just that it would be this week.)

  • KISS on Good Morning America
KISS was on ABC's Good Morning America program on August 1st. Here is a report from Jerry Cornish on what happened:

"They had about 4 minutes of coverage. Joel Siegal was at the show and backstage. The group, as we know, are not allowing anyone to talk backstage but they let GMA film the "Elvis walk" -- you know, the walk down the corridor to the stage. While this was going on Paul was giving his "we have the most dedicated fans" speech - then, when they get ready to take the stage they do a sort-of prayer, like when a sports team is about to take the field -- very cool! There was a lot of concert footage, mostly of "Deuce" and "King of the Nighttime World". There was also a portion where they interviewed fans while showing KISS footage in slow motion in the background. Mr Siegal's review of the show was favorable - I can't remember what all was said. They also talked to the Editor of "Live" magazine and she summed it all up like this: "It is once again cool to come out of the closet and declare yourself a KISS fan"!"
