Black Diamond 2: Excerpts

Chapter Nine: "Private Audio Recordings"

The following list deal with concerts by KISS that are known to have been audio-taped and/or professionally recorded over the years. As one could assume, earlier tours of the band featured less recordings of this type, while such tours done in 1987-88 and 1989-90 (the CRAZY NIGHTS and HOT IN THE SHADE tours respectively) seem to have a audio recording done for every concert on the tour. It is not only due to the band's popularity over the years, but also due to the sophistication of recording capabilities as the 1980s pressed on.

The following list is only of known audio recordings that have circulated in fan-circles and is not to be considered complete. Also, recordings that are taken from video recordings (the FRIDAYS appearance for example) are not listed as they are covered in Chapter Nine. Radio interviews and announcements are excluded as they have limited fan appeal and are too numerous to be truly encompassing in nature in the text of this book. Not all concerts listed are complete and may only be segments from the entire show (i.e. just the encore from a show; solos missing from the audio recording, etc.). A special mention should be made for the concerts listed below between June 17, 1995 and August 1, 1995. All of these recordings come from the 1995 WORLDWIDE KISS CONVENTIONS Tour, which featured the band doing an acoustic set for the fans. Ironically for a band that has always kept a tight rein on unofficial recordings, fans were allowed to audio and videotape these performances. As such, there are no doubt recordings for all of these convention stops. Some have already made an appearance as bootleg albums, but as to whether all, or most of all, of these performances will make such an appearance remains to be seen.

To save space, recordings are in chronological order, with arena/hall (if available), city and state or country of origin listed. Brief additional mentions are added to recordings of particular fan interest (such as bootlegs that have been released of a particular concert).
