Cashing In!
By: Tom Dixon

Hello fellow KISS fans, it is time again to spread my opinion. Here it goes. This is my take on the subjects mentioned by KISS Asylum on 7/24/00:

I recently saw KISS in May at Deer Creek outside Indianapolis, IN and was very pleased with the show. It has been an interesting 2000, with the announcement of the 'farewell' tour, the auction, the rumors of the FINAL show and the future of the members. I look forward to seeing KISS again in September at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indy. I am very thankful that they are coming back again. Side note: ticket price for my box seats are $50 each, not bad for who I am going to see. My question is who do the Dixie Chicks think they are by charging $47.50 for the same seats for their show? Ah, isn't this their first headlining tour? Anyway, back to the subjects at hand.

I do hope there is a pay-per-view special. I don't see me and my wife making it to NYC to catch the show, so I would pay a decent dollar for the whole final show. Why wouldn't you? We pay for the old concert videos don't we? And you know that the extra cash goes right into their retirement fund or part of it goes to the Eric Carr foundation or maybe to a special charity? There shouldn't been too many complaints about their final concert being available for pay-per-view, it will be more exciting than a boxing match.

Ted Nugent, he is an island all to himself. There is no in-between with Uncle Ted. It is like being a Bobby Knight fan here in Indiana, you love him or you hate him. I like and my wife HATES him. But he and the other two bandmates really could play. They did rock and that was the reason we were there. His personal and political beliefs were... honest? He is just speaking his mind, which he is allowed to do. At least he could play.

The Auction, surprise? Ah, we are talking about Gene, he is in the group. I really didn't have a problem having it, but I would of thought they would of have made a big announcement that some of the proceedings were going to a charity, i.e. save the music or Eric Carr. But, again, they chose to show, maybe not intentionally, their greedy side. How much money do you need Gene? Sometimes Public Relations is lacking.

As for the future of the members after KISS. I will be happy to see Gene in films again. I enjoy watching him act. I hope that he has a nice career. I am happy that Paul has found something for him to jump right into. He is good at it and deserves respect for what he has accomplished. Wouldn't be too surprised if he too wound up in pictures. I would love to hear a Paul solo album or how about a Ace and Paul album? Interesting. Peter, I don't think he will make as much noise. He may try and I hope it goes well, but it seems that is never meant to be. Don't get me wrong, Peter is a fine musician and I have enjoyed watching him on the past tours, but I think he needs the right company. Who knows. Ace, I have always believed that regardless of what Ace thinks, he needs KISS in some fashion. He put out some good solo albums and will put out a few more, but again, he is mainly seen in the KISS world. Hopefully when his new album comes out, it will just rock and kick ass!

I think that I have accepted the end is near. I feel that I won't have a nervous breakdown. I look forward to their future endeavors, what ever they may be. I again would like to thank KISS for the music, the visual excitement, the GREAT live shows. I feel that they could have made some better decisions in a few areas, but overall, it has been a great ride. They definitely did it their way! They deserve to be in RnR Hall of Fame! They were pioneers and they did take Rock and Roll to a different level. Today's music is so dependent upon #1's, it is nice to know that KISS has been here, there, everywhere and will probably still be here as the others run out of tape. 'God bless you, Good night!'
