Sound Off Crazy Nighters
By: Joe Roggi

First of all, I know this is going to piss off alot of people reading this but I could care less. I just read the first 2 sound off articles and I must say that after seeing some of the ideas for set lists and stage ideas without a doubt these people have their heads up their asses! Let me explain something right now that alot of people here (including Gene & Paul ) don't seem to understand: KISS is Ace, Gene, Paul & Peter and no one else! Having stated that I can now answer a bunch of the "Why not" questions.

Why not let Peter sing "Out of Control"? Because it has nothing to do with KISS. Why not let Ace play "Rock Soldiers"? Because it has nothing to do with KISS. Why not play 80's songs? Because it has nothing to do with KISS. Why not have a tribute section for Eric Carr? Because he was just a session man. He never had any say and Gene and Paul never considered him a member. Are we gonna salute Dick Wagner too for his contribution to "Sweet Pain"?? Paul was asked in a Guitar World magazine interview that he, Gene and Ace did for the Reunion if they were gonna play songs from the 80's. His answer was, "NO!" He said those songs were not relevant to this band. Doing those songs would make KISS into a cabaret act. What's changed his mind now? Is it because they need different songs in the set list? Well, there are more than enough songs to choose from in the original catalog to fill a great set list. I think its ridiculous to even say they should play "Heaven's on Fire" instead of a great song like "Hotter Than Hell" or "I Want You."

As far as opening bands go I think there should be no opening band at all. For the price they charge for tickets they can play a nice 3 and 1/2 hour show. Impossible you think? Well I may not be a fan of his, but Bruce Springsteen does it every night and his fans are some happy people after the show! What I would like to see is the 4 of them get their act together and go into a studio with Eddie Kramer and give the fans that have been waiting for it the album they were robbed of with "Psycho Circus". I'm not talking about the fans that excepted the 80's version of the Gene & Paul band to be KISS. I'm talking about the people who were there in the 70's and saw the greatest band of all time. Those are the fans that put them where they were. The same fans that watched it all diminish and were picked on for liking KISS. The same fans that went to all the shows with hopes that they'd wise up and get back together so KISS would no longer be a joke. The same fans that had tears in their eyes when they saw the four originals performing "Beth" on Unplugged and then went to the Reunion Tour and relived a part of their lives at those shows.

We are the people you owe KISS!! And if you can't get things together and give us the record we deserve, then please end it!! End it now before any more embarrasement!!
