Each line - represent a 32nd note in whatever the tempo or time-signature may be. The two lines at the beginning of each tab aren't to be counted, they are there only to make things easier on the eye. Time signatures other than 4/4 are indicated in the heading if pertaining to the whole Rhythm Fig or in the Rhythm Fig by makeshift "bar-lines" that show the shift. There are three permanent tab-lines: hi-hat, snare and bass drum. (I'm not sure about the current placement of these. Perhaps the hi-hat should be on top with the snare and bass at the absolute bottom?) The other lines, marked **, are for the rest of the kit. (Once again, three of these lines in the middle might be better. Then you can place the toms on different lines for instance.) As you can see, I've decided to go with different size letters in order to show a "full" strike and a ghost note. I feel that any more gradations in dynamics would clutter things too much. Triplets, of which there are a few in this tab, are shown by a < 3 > above The notes that are to be played with a triplet feel. In Rhy. Fig 6 you can also see my take on a flam (I think it's called), the short preceeding strike. I don't think it looks too god though. This tab is not meant to be 100% correct since it's just a test to see whether this is something that drummers might find useful and interesting. Since I'm not a drummer myself I might make mistakes (I don't know if there's a difference between crashes of different sortsa and the like). Key: x = closed hi-hat f = foot hi-hat o = open hi-hat B = bass drum B = bass drum (ghost note) S = snare s = snare (ghost note) 1 = high tom 2 = middle tom 3 = low tom F = floor tom CC = crash cymbal RC = ride cymbal SC = splash cymbal CB = cowbell SH = shaker WB = wood block Rhythm Fig. 1 HH|--x-------x-------x-------x-------x-------x-------x-------x-------|
