First of all, though this might sound like a 12-string, it is actually a Nashville-strung guitar. "What the hell is that", you say. Basically it's a regular 6-string but with the bass strings (E, A and D) replaced with the octave strings from a 12- string so that they„re tuned an octave higher than normal. (I have to confess though, I could not hear the difference. I got the info out of the 1978 Guitar Player interview that Paul did. I thought it was a 12-string.) Secondly, the acoustic part is capoed at the 7th fret. Basically, small fingers are to be preferred. Now the solo is played on a regular 6-string electric but, and here„s the good part, can be played on the capoed guitar should push come to shove. In that case, just ignore the capo for the duration of the solo. The arpeggiation is somewhat conjectural since there„s a lot going on here and the piano tends to occupy the same sonic space as the guitar. During the chorus, the guitar is strummed. Since rhythm doesn't come out in ACSII tab I've only listed the chords for that part. The solo is one of my absolute favourites ever and it is practically the essence of Paul. So melodic, the vibrato is so sweet and his timing is impeccable. Bow down before the master. (I know, I know. The bass tab for this song is for a different tuning. I did that one first and thought it was OK. Doesn't matter much though, it works.) Stanley [Rhy. Fig 1] [Rhy. Fig 2] Though I know that you are sleeping Girl, there„s something I must say Though the road may wind our love will find a way Many miles have come between us And the days they some and go Still with all we feel it never really shows [Rhy. Fig 3] Hold me, touch me And think of me when we„re apart Hold me, baby won„t you touch me And think of me here in the night And you know it will be alright [Rhy. Fig 4] [Rhy. Fig 2] Though the time apart seems endless All my thought remain with you I believe one day we„ll make our dreams come true Our goodbyes go on forever And with all that we may say Till tomorrow comes we„ll dream of yesterday [Rhy. Fig 3] Hold me, touch me And think of me when we„re apart Hold me, baby won„t you touch me And think of me here in the night And you know it will be alright [Solo over Rhy. Fig 3(2x)] [Rhy. Fig 5] Ooooh, a-ah, yeah
