ACE FREHLEY INDUCTED INTO BRONX WALK OF FAME

WHEN: Sunday, May 20th
TIME: 11:30AM

New York, New York -- Bronx born and bred, famed KISS lead guitarist, Ace Frehley, receives the ultimate honor on Sunday, May 20th when he is inducted by Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer into The Bronx Walk Of Fame as part of the 30th Annual Bronx Week Celebration. "I am overwhelmed to be inducted into the Bronx Walk Of Fame, not only for my personal achievements but also to be honored with such a prestigious group of Bronxites," enthuses Frehley.

Joining Frehley are new inductees U.S. Secretary Of State Colin Powell, actress, Diahann Carroll, stage and screen actor Burt Young, New York Mets baseball great Ed Kranepool, legendary filmmaker, the late Stanley Kubrick, award winning Ragtime author E.L. Doctorow, Latin salsero Johnny Pacheco, hip hop artist Kris Parker (KRS-One) and Lyn Brown and Jim Ryan, co-hosts of Fox's Good Day New York. Past inductees include popular TV show host, Regis Philbin, actress Rita Moreno, actor Hal Linden, comedian Robert Klein, and noted TV producer/director Garry Marshall.

Commemorating the 30th Annual Bronx Week with a multitude of events held throughout the borough, the Bronx Walk Of Fame marks the shining pinnacle of a cavalcade week. Launched five years ago, the Bronx Walk Of Fame inductees are selected on the basis of success in their respective fields of endeavor and accumulated pride and goodwill generated by their community. The new inductees will receive the honor of the unveiling of a permanent personalized street plaque along the Grand Concourse beginning at The Bronx County Building.

With the famed Yankee Stadium looming large in the distance, the induction ceremony takes place on Sunday, May 20th at 11:30AM at the corner of the Grand Concourse and 161st Street, and is open to the public. Immediately following the induction ceremony the street plaques will be unveiled followed by a grand parade with all inductees aboard a Walk Of Fame float.

Revered by first, second and third generation fans as one of rock's most remarkable and pioneering guitar players, Ace Frehley has never lost touch with his Bronx roots; in 1978, Frehley scored a smash hit with New York Groove an affectionate homage to the city that he loves. An original member of KISS, one of the world's most popular and enduring rock and roll institutions, Frehley has also mined considerable success as a solo artist. A multifaceted talent, Frehley is also an immensely gifted artist--Frehley designed KISS' distinctive logo and in 1992 launched First Sightings, a well-received series of accomplished computer generated artwork.

Currently finishing up KISS' mega successful Farewell Tour, "Space" Ace Frehley has all eyes rocketed towards a golden future. Says Frehley: "I can't wait to sink my teeth into a solo record which just might have another tribute song honoring my childhood roots in the same vein as New York Groove.
