Legendary Rock Radio Station Returns From: manager1@home.net
After a three year absence, legendary West Coast metal radio station Pure Rock 105.5 KNAC is back. Maintaining it's reputation of being a leader in rock music, KNAC is now broadcasting on the Internet at http://knac.demonet.com with live audio feeds of original KNAC broadcasts and stored audio of "classic" KNAC. The web site also includes a chat room, with other features, such as video, to be added. New programming is set to begin on Sunday, February 15, 1998 at 2:00PM PST, the third anniversary of the radio stations closing. Technology for the Internet broadcast is being provided by Vosaic, LLC. Utilizing their "Radio Station for Java", this groundbreaking technology requires "no plug-ins"or software downloads to hear the audio. The broadcasts will be carried by a network of "reflector" sites making the audio stream easily accessible worldwide. Pure Rock 105.5 KNAC, originally established in 1986, was one of the first radio stations to program "metal" music, during the mid-80's growth of a world wide metal scene. Bands like Metallica and Guns ŒN Roses were among the many bands that were first heard on the original KNAC. To LA metal fans, KNAC was the leader in previewing and promoting the harder edges of rock until the station's sale to a Spanish broadcaster in 1995. Returning to the Internet version of Pure Rock KNAC will be the unpredictable former morning man, Thrasher and KNAC Pure Rock Talkback host, Mike Stark, along with others from the original KNAC airstaff. Coordinating the KNAC project is Rob Jones Jr., formerly a marketing and radio promotions consultant to numerous record and management companies. KNAC will be broadcasting from the headquarters of the Long Beach, California based DemoNet. DemoNet, a leader in Internet software marketing, is regularly active in Internet broadcasting and served as a mirror website for the largest Internet event to date, the 600,000,000+ hit JPL 's Mars Pathfinder Mission. From their home page at http://www.demonet.com, DemoNet has webcast audio and video of such live events as Dallas Cowboys Pre-Season football, Wall Street Journal's Technology Summit 97', Stephen Stills induction into the RockWalk, and a continuous live feed of NASA TV For additional information contact Rob Jones Jr. at (562)308-4000 or e-mail at rjonesjr@demonet.com
