I got the tape a few days ago and here's my thoughts on it:
After reading this board I thought I would hate it, but I actually like most of it A LOT!! I think "Tell Me" is easily the best KISS song to come out in the last ten years or so. Also, I like "Hate", "Rain", and "In My Head". The songs I don't care much for are "I Will Be There" and "Childhood's End". By the way, I hate "alternative" music but I do like Pantera and "thrash". I like this heavier direction-they pull it off well. KISS has always been a band that adapted to the music style of the time, and I like this a lot. I think Bruce could have put a lot more effort into his solos though. 99% of them are whammy bar and wah pedal crap. I'm not the biggest Bruce fan, but usually he comes up with a couple decent solos per album. Not here. Gene plays really cool bass lines throughout and Eric Singer plays really good too, especially on "In the Mirror". Well there's my two cents.
