O.K. guys,
NOTHING has fueled a debate like the new unreleased KISS LP, Carnival of Souls. I love it. I hope the even those who hate
it, give the tape another few listens.
Before I am labelled as a johnny come lately KISS fan, let me write a little history about myself:
I have been a KISS fan since 5th grade (1975). I was cool in grammar school when I always had the latest KISS releases before anyone else. I once fell during a Mass as an altar boy because I had to wear platform shoes like my heroes. My ankle could not handle the 5" heels.
In high school, I was ridiculed because I still followed my favorite band. I was laughed at by clerks in record stores while purchasing "Unmasked" and "The Elder".
In college, I was actually dumped by a girl because I was going to see a KISS concert ( I was a dork for doing this-she told me this to my face). I have more stories like this. Now, veryone is comming to me to see if I can get tickets to the reunion show-HA!

Anyway, I am a TRUE KISS FAN and I love the new LP after several listens. I rank it only behind Hotter Than Hell and
RnR Over for studio efforts. Here is the definitive song by song review:

HATE-Picks up where Unholy left off. Great tune!
RAIN- Paul gets very heavy here-It works for me!
TELL ME-I'm thinking " God of Thunder with a little Alice in Chains mixed in".
CHILDHOOD'S END-AWESOME CATCHY TUN FOR THE 90s!!! This is what Gene's solo effort should have sounded like!
I WILL BE THERE- My least favorite. An acoustic song that has some good moments.
THE JUNGLE- PAUL STANLEY AT HIS BEST!! This song rocks!
SEDUCTION OF THE INNOCENT- Nice groove. I like what Gene does here.
IT NEVER GOES AWAY-Very dark. Once again, Paul is kicking us in the nads!
IN MY HEAD- More b@ll crunching rock.
YOU CONFESS- Excellent, heavy rocker.
IN THE MIRROR-Good song. Not THE JUNGLE though.

My favorite songs are: THE JUNGLE, CHILDHOOD'S END AND HATE.
As I said, this is my third favorite studio effort by KISS. It took me 5 listens to come to this conclusion.
The LP has KISS written all over it. If you like WATCHIN YOU, GOD OF THUNDER, PARASITE AND UNHOLY as well as some of today's heavier sounds, you will like this one.
