Ok gang! Got the new KISS album today & here's the poop:
This new record is ultra-heavy! That's no s#!t. Heavier than anything KISS has ever done. This album is chock full of bottom end chunk. The atmosphere on this record is pretty dark, no "I Just Wanna" sing along tunes here. Here's a brief overview:

HATE (Is What I Am): This is a stomping & grinding number with Simmons written all over it. Heavy as lead & full of adrenaline. Gene's voice is classic Gene a'la "Unholy".

RAIN DOWN ON ME: Paul's song. Super chunky & has that Pantera grind to it. Paul sounds great on this one & you won't believe he wrote something this heavy. Excellent!

TELL ME: Another one of Paul's songs. Styllistically similar to the previous track but a little faster. Also very heavy & dark. Bruce sounds great on this one & has a real ballsy guitar sound. Great tune.

CHILDHOOD'S END: F#@%!ng Incredible tune by Gene! This is a real morbid sounding song with a real epic kind of feel to it. I haven't heard Gene sound this great in a while. Pure as the driven snow. Not as heavy as the others but really powerful. I think most people will dig this one quite a bit. Destined to become a classic!

I WILL BE THERE: Another Paul tune. Pretty good but weaker than most of the others. It's mostly acoustic & kind of Zeppelin-like. Has a strange feel to it that makes it one of the more unusual sounding tracks.

THE JUNGLE: Cool Paul tune that rings of Soundgarden. I can picture Chris Cornell singing this one. It's got a funky groove & it's pretty upbeat & heavy.

SEDUCTION OF THE INNOCENT: Damn! Another excellent Gene tune that ranks up there with "Childhood's End". Also has an epic flare to it. This reminds me of classic KISS with updated 90's style. Very awesome w/ great vocals once again. I love this tune!!

IT NEVER GOES AWAY: Real dark Paul tune that has deep guitar parts. Love it! Great background vocals! Slow & chunky. Real different for Paul.

IN MY HEAD: Gene's at it again. Kind of like Unholy but with less of a melody. Not bad, kinda cool but the weakest Gene song on the record. Real heavy & evil!!!!

I CONFESS: Oh my God, Gene's on a roll! Probably one of the very best from this record. I love it. Gene's voice in top form & loads of drama make this song another favorite.

IN THE MIRROR: Paul ends the tape with this cool song. Upbeat with a cool riff & great vocals. Once again, not something most would expect from Paul. Really classy song with lots of heart.

There you have it. If you're expecting Revenge II, forget it. The band has practically reinvented themselves on this recording. Much different than anything you might expect.
Don't be discouraged, though. It still undoubtedly KISS, just a little more honed & defined. I'd say it's overall better than Revenge & gets an A- in my book! Great effort.
