I have to admit that this is a great album. I keep hearing how this is a continuation of the "Revenge" album's sound, but I think COS is much heavier and darker. I didn't have a great copy of it and it didn`t have all the songs, so my review is only of the ones I have heard. I`m also not going in any particular order.
"The Jungle" is the best song. Gene's bass really shines as well as Eric`s drums. They do sort of drag out the end, though.
"Master and Slave (Tell Me)" is also a good heavy tune and Paul's vocals stand out. Bruce`s guitars really grind on this one! This is a good one to listen to when you`re a little pissed off (or maybe not if you have violent tendencies)!
"I Will Be There" is one of the best ballads Kiss has done in a long time. It fits with the style of the album unlike "Everytime I Look At You" did on Revenge.
"Hate" is the heaviest song on the record. You almost don't know who it is until Gene starts singing.
"Rain" has Paul sounding alot different than you`re used to. He really sounds angry on the whole album.
"Childhood's End" sounds like something from Destroyer. You actually hear Gene singing on it rather than his standard growl.
"Seduction of the Innocent" wasn't one of my favorites on the album. It just didn't have any elements that grabbed me. It wasn`t all that bad though.
"In My Head" is a good tune. It has a heavy, slow, but jumpy beat to it. The singing is typical Gene, but it still doesn`t sound like any other song he's done.
"It Never Ends" is a tough call. Paul's vocals are somewhat spacey, but are still strong. Again, it`s not bad, but it is my least favorite song on the album.
That was all the songs I had on my copy, which at first disappointed me, because I was interested in hearing Bruce`s vocal debut on "I Walk Alone", but now that COS is finally going to be released, it gives me something to look forward to other than hearing the album with good sound. Everyone can put their scratchy, muffled sounding bootlegs away and listen to it the way it was meant to be heard!
