Steve Fisk's review:
From: Steve Fisk

I want to start this review by saying the original line-up have a monumental task of topping this last offering from the now broken up line-up.

"Carnival of Souls" rocks from track one all the way through to the last note on "I Walk Alone". That last song happens to be one of the two best songs on the CD, the other one being "In The Mirror".

Too bad Gene and Paul didn't let Bruce Kulick contribute more on previous albums. Maybe they didn't want to be outdone.

As far as other critics saying that KISS jumped on the band wagon, copying STP, Alice in Chains, or Soundgarden, THEY ARE NUTS!! This is klassic KISS with a new twist. These songs would have been awesome to hear in concert, but that will never happen now.

Some standout songs include "Rain", "Hate", "It Never Ends", and, of course, "Jungle".

COS was the perfect follow up to Revenge, but with the band that made that music gone, all we'll ever have is a CD to listen to, no videos, no concert programs to look at, and no tee-shirts to wear. Kind of sad, really.

Let's hope the "new, old KISS can deliver the goods next summer?!
