Finally got the chance to send my review of the expo. Got there
about 1/2 hour before the doors opened. Once inside, KISS fans were
greeted to a multitude of vendors selling anything from vintage
collectables (original dolls, lunchboxes, etc.) to the unusual (homemade
pins) & even very rare (Peter Criss drumcase used to haul drums). I
myself spent more $$$ than I should have, but it was well spent - on
KISS! As the day went on, it only got better. Met Richie Scarlet(my 2nd
time) and picked up his new CD, Wise Guy From New York. Also got an
autographed poster with it. Richie seemed pretty cool & his CD was
selling well. Also met John Reagan. He was as down to earth as could be.
Had him sign my Trouble Walkin tape cover(now signed by the entire
band). His table was next to Richie's, and when John asked him about
playing later, all Richie could say was "We're gonna rock!". Eric Singer
showed up about 2-2:30. He did a Q&A session on stage for about 1/2 hour
before signing autographs. There were some questions asked that Eric
couldn't answer(due to gag clause in KISS contract). His only reply to
these questions was about being smart fans & being able to put 2 & 2
together. He also mentioned Carnnival of Souls. He believes it will come
out due to the fact that they were paid for it (Eric's own words). Eric
seemed to have a good time between meeting fans, signing autographs (got
my KISSTORY signed), and promoting his drumming video. The highlight of
the evening was when the bands came on. The first band was Fractured
Mirror. They did an excellent re-creation of Ace during his Frehley's
Comet years. Some of their set included Shock Me,Ozone, Cold Gin, Rip It
Out, Speedin' Back To My Baby, and Hard Times. After Fractured Mirror
came my personal favorite of the night, the Eric Singer/Richie
Scarlet/John Reagan jam session. All three guys were giving 110% effort
to please the fans. The sad part is it only lasted around 20 minutes
before Richie & John got off stage. Eric was then joined by 2 of his
friends and they played covers such as Rock Candy & Snortin' Whiskey &
Drinking Cocaine. Eric & friends played for about 1/2 hour. When they
were done, the KISS tribute Hotter Than Hell went on. They did well due
to the response from the crowd. They opened with Detroit Rock City and
gave an amazing show. Some other songs they played were Take Me, Dr.
Love, God of Thunder, Shout It Out Loud, and Beth. Their performance
lasted about an hour to an hour and a half. There was so much to take
in, and I know this review is missing things, but from one KISS fan to
another, this was an event not to be missed!
