"Psycho Circus" Album Reviews

VH-1 Psycho Circus Review
Review by Rich Byrne

While the title track leaves you wondering if the Fantastic Four didn't learn a lesson from those bland cookie cutter metal tunes of days gone by, Psycho-Circus quickly takes a turn for the best, exposing the KISS we've all come to love. It isn't until Ace Frehley goes "Into The Void" that you know all is well in the world - KISS has returned!

Where the Seventies had "Rock 'N' Roll All Nite," the Nineties will have two, "You Wanted The Best" and "I Pledge Allegiance", as their anthems. In fact, the group picks up as if it never missed a beat. Peter Criss croons on "I Finally Found My Way to You" in a ballad comparable to "Beth". Gene Simmons growls on "Within". Ace continues to tear it up and Paul Stanley (probably one of the most underrated singers in rock 'n' roll) gives his finest performance to date!

It's true the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
