"Psycho Circus" Single Reviews

From: ArthurHall@aol.com

I was excited to hear the new offering (albeit bootleg) from the new KISS album due shortly. I liked the song as a whole. Its not going to be a KISS classic but it is a good lead-in song. A great tour opener. Anyway, Pauls vocals are as strong as ever! The intro is similar to "Take it Off" (which I love). The song could best be described as Creatures meets Dynasty. This song isn't probably what many KISS die-hard listeners might be looking for. Because these are two of my favorite KISS albums, I do like the tune. Because of the shoddy quality, its hard for me to judge Peter Criss' contribution but it sounds as if he would give Eric ! &2 a run for their money. I was a little disappointed with Ace's contribution to this song. Nothing special here. It kinda sounds as if someone was trying to "do" an Ace and copy his licks. His whole solo consists of his two signiture riffs, his ascending pulls and his Chuck Berry style soloing riff. Don't get me wrong, I love his playing and these riffs but it seems that Ace did this lead on his lunch break. Although, I will admit the lead fits the song well which is most important. I wish Ace would push himself a little more occasionally. Another "Shock me " type solo (live version) is needed. Any way, I give the song three stars out of four.
