"Psycho Circus" Single Reviews

From: Jeff Harshman

Since I see you all are accepting reviews othe Psycho Circus single, I thought I would put forward mine. What can I say? The day this song came available on line I practically flipped my lid. At last...new music by the original KISS!!! Let me tell ya, I certainly was not disappointed. The song rules. It doesn't sound like classic 70s KISS, but rather KISS in the 1990s. And I for one think this is a good thing. (Before you start sending me nasty email, let me explain myself. KISS in the 70s was and still is incredible. The music can't be compared to anything today. But, to create an album that sounds liek 70s rock in the 90s might not have gone over as well as we fans would have liked. Does that make sense?) It's good to see that KISS sounds modern, while not selling out. In my opinion all four original members play on the song. Peter's drumming is darker than usual, but certainly doesn;t sound out of his ability. He plays his butt off on the song, and it's his drumming that gives the song the darkish feel that it has. (In fact, the bass drum solo part has a bit of an "Enter Sandman" feel to it.) Paul's vocals are, as usal, incredible. The man still has some serious pipes. Overall, this song RULES! It's the type of song that will make every rock fan, even those that don't like KISS, take notice. KISS, the original KISS, has a sure fired winner on their hands!
