"Psycho Circus" Single Reviews

From: Strick9

Just located the Psycho Circus single in an intensive search of the myriad KISS sites. It was worth the effort. The single is as close to Klassic KISS as you could hope for. It would have been easy for the band to go in and lay down run of the mill material knowing full well that hardcore KISS fans would buy it no matter what. But if this single is any indication, they did not take that route. It is musically strong enough to generate radio airplay yet is hard enough to please KISS fans of every generation. I really expected something along the lines of the Destroyer era but this single really reminds me more of Creatures-period material. Still it is as good or better than anything the band has produced since the 80's. It has a good hook, strong rhythms, and solid vocals. It is easy to imagine it as the opener for the upcoming tour. If this is the caliber of the entire album, the perhaps you can come home again. It sounds like the magic has been brought back to life.

I have been a KISS fanatic since the mid 70's. I own an extensive KISS collection that includes a pinball machine. I have also enjoyed and appreciated the band in every incarnation. I have respect for Bruce, both Erics and can even appreciate Vinny's contributions (grudgingly). But there is something undeniably special about the four who created this band. It is great to hear them together again. I can't wait until the entire record is released in September.
