"Psycho Circus" Album Reviews

From: Joe Barrow

What to say..?? Well let me start off as most of you have done, by giving my KISS Army resume': I've been a KISS fan since 75', my first album was ALIVE and I have always been an original line-up kind of guy, once Peter left then Ace, KISS kinda took a backseat for me even though I bought a few of the "Non-original" line-up records and a few of them were good and a few I thought we just music that went with that time frame. I have met all of them except Eric & Eric. Bruce is by far one of the nicest people I have ever met in the Rock-n Roll biz. A true professional, down to earth and easy to talk to. As for the new album of the original four...

I think it is a real good KISS album, I agree maybe not the best, but hey I like all the KISS albums of the REAL KISS. To say I have a favorite, I go through periods were I'll listen to one for awhile then switch, but all of the negative stuff about Psycho is uncalled for!! It is a KISS album that goes with this day and age. I was open minded about it and after about 30-50 good listens, I have favorite songs and there's a few that just don't hit me..SO WHAT!! All of the so-called musicians out there saying that wasn't Peter drumming or Ace playing, it's Bruce, COS this, Creatures that..KISS wasn't trying to re-live those moments, this is what is going on now!! These guys haven't played in 17 years together, they have grown and diversed themselves in different ways. I feel they are much better musicians now, play better and improved over years of experience. I asked Bruce when I met him at the Prince William Cannons baseball game (KISS tribute night). I asked about his helping on the album, and he confirmed he helped Paul and co-wrote a song and helped with some of the "riffs" on the song but never admitted that he his playing would on the album, he just helped just as many other artists help each other and as you can see, he got credit. I'm not going to review each song because I have opinions just like everyone, some I agree with some I don't....

You can love it or hate it, listen or don't. Will you go see them even thought they may play 2-4 songs from this album? You bet your As* you will because no one puts on a better show!! Remember this too, KISS let the producer make the calls, that's what they wanted, they had over 20 songs ready to go and it was Bruce Fairbairn who made the final say what was going to be on it..So just get on with it, it's R-N-R. If you don't like it, go listen to some other band that won't even come close to what KISS has done in the last 24+ years...... Thanks for hearing me vent, hey I envy you all who can go to a concert, Up here in Anchorage Alaska, we probably won't get to see KISS the place here is just too small!! But hey, you never know
