"Psycho Circus" Album Reviews

From: CCCNCEA@aol.com

Psycho Circus is great! I know some Kiss fans are dissapointed with this album, but I think the band did a good job of not making a retro album with little or no depth, but instead did something more current and updated. Sure, some of the material is weak, but all Kiss albums had some weaker points (i.e. "Great Expectations", "Theme song from Kiss", "Then She Kissed Me", etc.). "Within", Psycho Circus", "Into the Void", and "Journey of 1,000 years" are my favorites. This album does carry elements of 70's, 80's, and 90's Kiss. Also, I thought Gene's singing on the album was great. Not the obligatory growling like on "God of Thunder", but some cool harmoning and melodic stuff. The way I see it, if you expected "Destroyer, Part 2", Sorry. This is the 90's. This is what a Kiss album in 1998 would have sounded like had the original line-up remained intact all these years. And remember this Kiss fans: While you may have expected a bit more, be glad we're out of that horrible "Crazy Night", "Asylum" era. Ace, Gene, Peter, and Paul rule!!
