"Psycho Circus" Album Reviews

From: Todd Kozby

Ok let's get it straight.I think the reason that some people are disappointed with Kiss' new album is that everyone was expcecting another Destroyer or something.Wake up,people this is 1998 and to me this is Kiss' finest recording since then. And the rumours flying around the Ace and Peter hardly played on the album are totally ridiculous. Why would the two who are supposedly so happy to be back in the band, lie to their fans and risk them hating them??Psycho Circus is 100% the 4 of them I belive and here are my takes on the songs:

PSYCHO CIRCUS:Great opening song,Paul's vocal's are real strong here. He also does the solo which almost sounds like Ace's solo.If anyone naive enough to think that that's not Peter on drums should listen to Flaming Youth from Destroyer and compare the two.Guess what it's the same!!

WITHIN:My favorite song by Gene on the disc.Heavy guitars make this one reminisent of War Machine or something.

I PLEDGE ALLEGIENCE.....Great Paul song once again balls to the wall Kiss.

INTO THE VOID:The Space-Ace flys again with this awesome song, great classic solo too.

WE ARE ONE:A little soft for the Demon but nonetheless a catchy number sounds like he's getting in touch with his Beatles influences

YOU WANTED THE BEST:Not my favorite song but still rocks. It's cool to see the four of them singing togetgher.Another great solo by the Ace.

RAISE YOUR GLASSES: Bon Jovi sounding???Get real morons. This song reminds me,if anything it reminds me of God Gave Rock and Roll to You so that means it's another keeper

I FINALLY FOUND MY WAY:Everyone keeps slagging Peter,But c'mon give the catman a chance. It's a great tune from him. What do you expect??I think he kicks ass for being 50 years old and still be able to play drums and sing as good as he does on this album.

DREAMIN':Killer Paul song cool double solo at the end, reminds me of the ending so of I Want You from Rock and Roll Over

JOURNEY OF A 1000 YEARS:Another very different song for Gene.but it is a dark sounding tune and definately in his character.

My summary is that Kiss has managed to put out another great album.I bet once the people who rip on this will give it another chance. My only problem was I wish it was indicated who plays the solos on Pauls and Gene's songs.I know that Paul plays solos on Psycho Circus and Raise Your Glasses, and Ace plays on his song and you Wanted the Best, but the problem is minimal and I'll continue to cherish this new album from my musical heroes
