"Psycho Circus" AlbumReviews

From: HDG37@aol.com

Hey, just wanted to add my two cents regarding the psycho circus lp. i've listened to it a handful of times and overall i think most kiss fans will enjoy it.

Paul's vocals are real strong (destroyer like) and i was real happy to hear all of his tracks are straight forward rock n roll. "psycho" is a kick ass show starter. "raise your glasses" is probably the only song that is "single" worthy, it has a real catchy chorus.

Ace's song "into the Void" is classic Frehley!. His guitar work throughout the album is unbelivable! i would have liked another tune by ace.

Gene's song "within" is the best of the 4 that he sings. it sounds like it could have been on COS, but much better vocals. i'm not in love w/ the guitar work on this song, but the chorus is great. unfortunately, the other 2 songs sound like solo album Gene, rather than the god of thunder.

As for Peter, "finally found my way" should find its way off the album. i'm all up for a good ballad, but this song brings nothing to the table and just doesn't fit the album. as for the Paul/Peter duet it's different, but i think a real let down. Peter should stop searching for another Beth, and just play some rock n roll. i know it's been mentioned before, and i'd be real suprised if Peter was playing drums on all of these songs. it sounds a lot like Eric Singer type drums.

One other note, "you wanted the best" doesn't live up to the title at all, and what the hell is w/ the British sounds at the end of the song?

Overall i think the album is much better than i expected. i've been waiting for this for a long long time! i hoped it would be another Destroyer, but we all know that's not gonna happen.i just wonder if Paul and Gene ever really listen to their early albums and realize what made them great and what the fans want to hear.
