"Psycho Circus" Album Reviews

From: Mike Altimore

I have read a ton of reviews on this album, some good, some bad. I think that a lot of people just want to flash back to 1976. As many people have said, and I agree with this, this is not possible. It would also be ridiculous and redundant.

This album shows musical diversity and talent, which is severely lacking in today's music. I am a big fan of 70's and 80's arena rock, glam rock, heavy metal, whatever you want to call it. This album is fun and upbeat and actually puts you in a good mood. No lyrics about suicide, drugs, or depression. Although the lyrics on "You wanted the best" are really egotictical and a little cheesy, it's still fun.

I think one thing that this album does is give us a glimpse of what Kiss of the 80's and early 90's would have been if the original 4 had stayed together. Each song (except "Journey of 1000 years) sounds like it could have come from an album between the years 1981-1996, kind of like an updated "Smashes, Thrashes, and Hits".

As for "Journey", WONDERFUL song!! Finally some music that doesn't sound like it was written in 5 minutes!!

Overall this album is a refreshing change from the music of today and a great KISS album! Hopefully this album will bring on a resurgance of fun "party rock" instead of "let's all take heroin and commit suicide cuz I'm so depressed" music.

I love the album!! 4 1/2 out of 5 stars!
