"Psycho Circus" AlbumReviews

From: Mr. K

I have had the Psycho Circus album 4 a few days now. i have played it at least 10 times. 1st thought was oh sh@t what is this crap? It did not give me what i wanted. On it's own, it is a all around good collection of hard rock stomps, but this is not a KISS record in my eyes or ears. This sounds like a best of Gene,Paul, Ace,and Peter offering. 4 the most part it does not sound like Peter playin on most of the tracks. If it is not the CatMan they better tell the truth. KISS fans want a KISS record. A real KISS record. My 2nd thought was shoot the producer. Way 2 slick. If u think back 2 Rock-n-roll Over, it was done live in an old theater. That is what i wanted. Kick Ass KISS. This is 90's fodder. But 2 be fair it is 1998 and not 1978. This is what KISS is now and i will have 2 get over it.

I would like 2 say some good things since i have been a fan since 74. On it's own legs this is a good record, and i think most fans will dig it. Psycho Circus is a great opener. The #2 song is very 90's Gene. In2 the Void is the best tune i feel. Sounds like KISS 2 me, my KISS of old :) We are One is great song. Light years from God of Thunder and not a true Demon song but none the less should be a single soon. Another thing that hit me was, it sounds like other people had their little hands in on the song writing. Thats fine, but why not write as a band. Get an old loft in N.Y. and do it the true KISS way, JAM. Way 2 many chuggy guitar lines instead of Space Ace riffs. U Wated the Best has some great old school Ace goin on, but the lyrics 2 this tune are pure cheese. It is very cool 2 get a track with all the boys doin a lead vocal. So 4 that hats are off. As always with post makeup KISS i love the Paul songs. Raise yor Glasses is cool and has a great hook. Realy wants 2 be a new Flaming Youth. The Peter track is a Beth send off instead of a Baby Driver. It is very Out of Control. The real stand out part of this track is the harmony part with Paul : ) Great 2 hear them sing 2gether. Dreamin, cool song. Very solo Paul. The last track is a good song but a HORRIBLE way 2 close the record.

No Demon tracks, Not enough Ace riffs, and way over produced. Paul is still in top form. Peters little input at least is on the mark with what we expect from the PussyCat. I only hear his drums on In2 the Void. I am goin 2 go put on Love Gun. Good luck KISSARMY. Lets hope we get a great tour from the guys.
