"Psycho Circus" Album Reviews

From: jpyrett@ececs.uc.edu

Here is my quick take on Psycho Circus. After hearing the cd nonstop for the last two days, heres what I see..

Psycho Circus - obviously what everyone has said about it, but the more I hear it, the more wimpy the verses and chorus gets. The words to the song are really simple once the music wears off (9).

Within- I like this song probably the best. I havent listened to COS, for awile, so I am not into COS more than Psycho Circus, but this song has power (10).

I pledge... - This has a very cool intro, I have to disagree with others.. This song has a positive vibe and actually makes me feel good to listen to it as I relate it to my struggles and sleepless nights I have spent as a CS major at school(9).

We are one - This is a great song, just takes a listen to two to get used to it. This is a unique Kiss song. I love the bass lines and didnt know the Demon could sing this high(9).

Into the void- It would be cool if Ace would change the tempo and have different sections like on 100,000 years or Psycho Circus song where it breaks down when Paul says "Get up!!" Other than that, I like this song.. Needs another verse and less repetitions of the chorus. (8)

You wanted.. - I think this song is heavy at first then kinda dies. I like this song but the verses need to be developed more. It sounds like the various members of the band, do not sing long enough verses, only a line or two(8).

Raise your glasses- This song doesnt seem like a Kiss band effort. The Paul Stanley solo album is one of my favorite Kiss albums, but there is too much vocal here and needs more punch. I am very proud of this band, and I think they deserve to write a song to pat themselves on the back after 30 some albums and 25 years of Kisstory(8.5).

Finally found my way-- Would have been better knowing Peter wrote this, as it seems to me some of the verse is about Peter coming back to the band. Seems like Paul is putting words in Peters mouth if this is the case. Sad song, sounds good though. My mom was bashing Kiss("Why do you buy that crap..,,etc..) then I put the song on and she shut up.. Kinda like a scene out of the "I love it loud" video.. She was tapping her foot along with the music. This song is far better than the last two on the cd(9).

Dreamin' - I think the song title sucks. Honestly, the song doesnt stand out for me and doesnt have any classic Kiss vibes. I cant even remember anything about this song off the top of my head, because it is not a good song in my opinion.. (??)

Journey of 1,000 years- sounds okay. I like the other 1,000 song better that was on the Gene Solo album better. Usually the last two songs on the cd, do not grab my attention(??).

Overall: (9) Thanks Kiss!!!

Message to Kiss: Thanks for appreciating the fans with the new video, and Cd, and TOUR!!!! But, why is everything totally for money with Kiss?? Why do you make $75,000 Kiss cars when maybe only a handful of the Kiss Army could ever buy them? You should have a web site (membership) that is not $20. I already have free internet through school. Why should I pay $20 a month to be able to check out the web page content. I do not need the ISP services, just want to access the web pages.. I understand that the new tour cost Kiss millions to develop, but I think $75 for a stadium seat (which isnt that close anyways and the sound isn't as good as a closed venue) is too high. On the last tour, I paid $25 or $30 and it was awesome plus you still made millions of profits off of the tour. I have bought all but 3 of your cds, spent money on posters, t-shirts, guitar sheet music, Kiss expos, etc but feel like Kiss is ripping off the fans recently. Just my .02 cents as a 15 yr Kiss Army sold! ier.
