Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: GOLDTOP33@aol.com

Let me start my review of KISS' 2 night stand at Boston's Fleetcenter by stating that it was by far the LOUDEST concert I've ever been to - and I've been to hundreds.

I don't know how KISS did it, but they were AMAZING - 10 times better than the 2 Fleetcenter shows 2 years back. The 1st night I sat in the 4th row on Gene's side - Ace hit me in the head with his pick during Shout it out Loud! The 2nd night I had 11th row center. I didn't really use the 3-D glasses for the 1st night since I was so close to the stage. But I did wear them during the second night, and from 11 rows back dead center, the 3-D was amazing - especially during Ace's guitar solo. It was a mind blower. Peter's levitating drum set was unbelievable , it was pulled up by chains & looked like a spaceship from underneath -  cool lights and dry ice jets.

The Boston set list posted on the KISS Asylum home page seemed to be accurate for the 1st night. They really changed it up for the 2nd night though (a suprise since the 2 Fleetcenter shows from the renunion tour were identical). For the 2nd night, they moved the drum solo from God of Thunder to Within'. These 2 songs also switched spots in the set list. They closed the regular set with R'N'R all night instead of Detroit Rock City. Beth was the 1st encore for both nights. Beth was followed by Detroit Rock City, and then Black Diamond was the last song. There were no risers for Gene, Paul, or Ace - just Peter's drum riser. The first night they did the drum riser during the last regular set song - Detroit Rock City, whereas the 2nd night they used it for the end of Black Diamond.

The stage/lights reminded me of a mix between Dynasty and Animalize. There were tons of pyro and fireworks - twice as much as what they used for the last tour. And like I said before - it was SO LOUD. I couldn't believe how loud they were.

The band really looked pumped up for both nights - they looked really psyched to be together playing again - Gene & Ace kept high fivin' eachother all night. After Ace's guitar disappears into the rafters during his solo - he comed out on stage right and says "Welcome to the new f*!kin millenium!" - it was so cool.

One interesting thing to note is that Ace didn't go to his knees during the guitar solo for Black Diamond. The 1st night I thought maybe his knees were bothering him - but he didn't do it for the second night either - ?

On the 1st night, Gene almost got rammed into his platform in the lighting rig during God of Thunder! On the second night, it didn't look like he was gonna go up - but then he did.

During Black Diamond (2nd night), Ace 1/2 way blew the 2nd solo - but then found some way to recover. Also during this song - the band blew the end of the song when Peter's drum riser were going up.I couldn't tell if it was Peter's fault or the bands.

These last few comments are just things that I noticed - the typical fan probably wouldn't even tell. One things for sure - KISS was the best I've ever seen them - absolutely incredible! I couldn't even begin to explain to you the effect they had on me live this time - YOU'VE GOT TO SEE THEM TO BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!
