Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: JP

They rocked as usual and fortunately for me, who is not a big fan of the new album, they limited the set to 3 new tunes--same as halloween. I was really pumped to hear shout it out loud second to really kick the show into high gear.

I could definitely do without Beth and was a little disappointed to not hear some early eighties classics not played on the reunion tour (ie: I Love It Loud, Lick It Up and Heavens On Fire--as well as one of my favorite Gene tunes--Domino) A couple of those four ( maybe one from Paul and one from Gene) would have added a little variety since I saw the reunion show 4 times in '96 and last nite really was a juggled set of the same set I saw at a few of the New England shows in '96 with Makin Love and the PC tunes.

Makin Love was cool to hear as it hasn't been played on any tour I've seen. I did notice Gene with a much lighter version of his classic 70's costume.. obviously not wanting to wear the heavier boots from '96--smart choice.

Ace was better than ever--I thought his solos were tight and he was more showman than a few of my '96 shows--I can't believe the shape Paul is in, and his circus flight singing love gun was really wild. A few new theatrics would have been cool to add to Peter's flying set and Paul flying around. But we still got the Best.

A few comments from my crew that went that are semi KISS army folks--Gene looked a little old and not as into it as he was in '96 and Paul added a few new dance steps and some inches to his hair. It was unanimous that Beth would not be missed and Nothin To Lose would be a great replacement for Peter to sing with Black Diamond

Overall I am "Psyched" they are back out on the road and I do have tix for the Thanksgiving week show at Nassau Coliseum....Keep the classics coming guys and keep picking it up a notch
