Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Joey Belcher

Here's My Review for the concert:

My dad took me to the concert, since I am only 13. So we get there about 10 minutes before the opening band comes on. We were looking around at the expensive stuff. I was about to get the Psycho Circus tour dates listing, but of course, dad didn't like the fact the f' word was on there, though it was astericked out(f**k). So we go in, wait about 5 minutes, the lights go out. There was only about 25% of the crowd filled, but they thought KISS was already there. It was Econoline Crush, their opening band. They had some music kind of like NXS, but it was the same stuff over and over. So they played about 5 different songs, each being with a different lead guitar for the guitarist. You could'nt hear the words to the song, cause the guitar's amps were up too much, and the mic was way down on the treb. So the lights come back on, and we wait about 15 minutes for KISS. I thought it would be like the War Machine tour that my dad went to, which was the loudest show on earth. So the lights finally go off, nothing happens for about 25 seconds, and everyone is looking at the KISS ARMY flags to the side, the Psycho Circus curtain, and the KISS Signs. We finally here "ALLLLRIGHT CHARLESTON!" So everyone goes wild, including me. Everyone there was waving there KISS shirt around. "YOU WANTED THE BEST, AND YOU GOT IT! THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD, KKKKKIIIISSS!" was what the guy said, but the fans were heard over top of it. Finally, you here the guitar start up for Psycho Circus, the curtain falls, and Paul Stanley shouts "YEEAAHHHH!", as all the fireworks go off. It sounded a lot like the CD's music, and unlike the opening bands speakers, there were more Marshall Amps, speakers, and it was a much more clearer sound. So they end the song, and then Paul shouts "What's Up West Virginia?" and everyone is screaming, all the drunks putting up the little satan/Gene symbol thing, which I have no clue to what that one meant. And after Paul looks at us, he says,"You should know this one!", and they start shout it out loud, crowd singing every single word of it. Then, we finally start to get to the 3-D stuff. Paul tells us, "Ok now, get your glasses on!", so everyone does, and he starts messin with it, moving his finger back and forth. IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS ACTUALLY THERE, RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU! So they start Firehouse, and the Psycho Circus video clips are playing in 3D on the screen, and it is actually a continuation of parts of the video. So at the end of it, the Kiss sign, which before was only blinking around, comes all the way on, and the fire sirens and lights going off, the crowd cheering, fire coming out of the system(so hot, I was 21 rows back on the first level, and could feel the fire on my cheeks!) with Gene doing his fire stunt mid-stage. Then Peter Criss makes his drums sound like a fire bell. I couldn't really tell you the line up, but I know they played Do You Love Me, then Deuce, and they played King Of The NightTime World, and Calling Doctor Love, each having a few fireworks. Somewhere in there, Ace did his smoking-guitar trick, then shot fireworks all around! So, Gene plays a few bass chords, and the crowd looks a little confused. Gene shouts "Oh, you should know this one!" The crowd knew what he meant, so he plays a few more chords, and the blood comes out, with him doing the toungue thing. Then he spits it out in the first four rows, where people of ROCK105, and people who won tickets from Rock105 got blood spitted on them. All the people who had dressed up like KISS was going wild! Gene goes flying up to the ceiling, where there was a place to stand, and does God Of Thunder, with a few Fireworks, and KISS sign light ups. So, they do Into The Void and Within, which I couldn't tell you how many Fireworks went off there! Then, Paul asks what song deals with alcohol? and everyone shouts at the top of their lungs, "COLD GIN!!!!", so he says, "People, don't drink and Drive. You go ahead and drink, and I'll drive you....WILD!" So they do Cold Gin, with Gene doing a little toungue action on Ace during the solo. Then, Peter Criss does his drum thing, with the drum set, and the place the drum set was, flying around. It was about 7 minutes, everyone going wild. Then Paul does Love Gun in the middle of the place, flying out into the crowd, the flying back about 2 minutes after the song had ended. Well, they finally thought they had played all the songs, so they do Rock And Roll All Nite, with Confetti going into the crowd, with the fans(as in the AIR fans) blowing the stuff around. Everyone was singing it, and KISS heard it so loud, they didn't sing a couple of lines, cause the fans were singing it so loud! So the place gets dark, as if it was almost over, and a thing comes up and says, "Thank you" on the screen, so everyone shouts, "DETROIT!" over and over. Well, I think they realized they forgot a few, so Peter comes out and does Beth, with him throwing roses out, cause he was on a stool at the end of the stage. Well, Paul says, "Who all has the Destroyer album?" almost everyone raises there hand. So, he names off every track but the first, then he says, "Do you all wanna go to Michigan?", and everyone is screaming around. Then he says, "Ok, here we go.....to Detroit!!!" This is when Gene pulls out his old Axe Guitar, instead of the punisher. He had only used it about 4 other times during the concert. It was also 3D when the car wreck happened. And they did that song, with the crowd going balistic. Then Paul Stanley did his Rhythm/Lead solo, which was actually part of the Black Diamond, which about only half the crowd knew. So they do the song, with the fans singing, the fireworks going, the KISS sign glowing big, all the lights flashing, the Fire going off, Gene doing his tongue thing, Peter flying with his Drum Set, Ace messin with his guitar, and the sirens going off . Then, Paul knew the crowd didn't want it to end, and so he asks, "Do you want me to smash the guitar?", and the crowd screams with a reply, as Peter throws a drum stick in the crowd, then after about 5 hits on the ground, Paul smashes the guitar into 2 peaces, throwing one to the right side of the arena, and the other part, the head of it, he gives to a fan in the front, where a few of the whores/hookers(whatever you wanna call them) were sitting. Somewhere in the concert, Paul held up this banner, which there was 3 in the 1st row, and it said, with a picture of them from Destroyer on there, "KISS RockS 105". He didn't hold up the other two, but he noticed them. Ace gave the crowd a lot of thumbs up during the concert, cause he and the rest of the band really enjoyed coming to the jam-packed civic center. Throughout the concert, Paul, Gene, and Ace spit, threw, and handed out guitar picks, and Paul was telling the fans what to do. So, the concert had finally ended, the lights coming back on. I saw a few limos outside, realizing it was a decoy for them to leave another way, or it was there limo, which they were waiting for the crowd to leave, and then go to the Marriot(the richest hotel in the state, next is Embassy Suites) So, all the drunks and everything were out there, talking of the concert, and everything else. A lot of people from Ohio and Kentucky were there. I knew they were, since I could read every plate as we waited a half an hour for there to be room for us to pull out. As we went home, I checked the program booklet I got of KISS, and we talked about the concert, both of us being half-deaf, and very horse. We talked of the 3D glasses, the effects. He talked about the War Machine in comparison to the Psycho Circus tour, and how good they both were. He mentioned of everyone trying to duplicate them and there show, but no one is able to. He wanted to go to the 96 reunion tour, but we didn't get the chance. As we went home, with all the KISS tapes playing in the cars, I knew in my head that though this was an excellent concert, there was more to come from KISS, and that they would be back here before they die, which I hope never happens. I am stilling looking for the email addresses to the member's of KISS, cause I'd just like to thank them for such a wonderful show. I thanked my dad for bringing me, but I gotta give them something in return.
