Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Dan Davis

My wife and I went to the KISS concert in Cleveland on Sunday and, as always, it was a great show. KISS has always been in a class by itself when it comes to putting on a show. The opening band was Econoline Crush. I think they might be a local band. They were pretty good. Far better than Smashing Pumpkins (suck).

The pyrotechnics were awesome. Flames, expolosions, smoke, sparks. You name it, they had it. When Ace shot the fireworks out of his guitar one of them hit a light and sent the road crew underneath scattering. The energy these guys put into a show amazes me. Especially after playing Columbus the night before. I can't figure out how they keep their voices. About an hour and a half into the show I couldn't make a sound. I am really impressed and thankful that these guys go full bore into a show night after night. That's why I don't want to sound too critical about the show.

The only negative I have about the show itself was they only performed three songs from Psycho Circus. In a way it was like being at the reunion tour again. The one problem KISS has had since the band broke up is they live on the past. It shows in all their home videos. They say they don't but they do.

Psycho Circus is an awesome album. Far better than any of the first three they put out. I wanted to hear "Raise Your Glasses" and "You Wanted the Best..." but was disappointed. I think KISS know these are better songs than alot of the older stuff but are afraid to overshadow their past. Hopefully as the tour goes on they will put more songs from the album in the show.

As far as the 3-D goes I wasn't impressed. Maybe it was because I was sitting up so high but I doubt it. I didn't think the 3-D Psycho Circus video was great either. After seeing the 3-D presentation at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio I was expecting the images to be right in my face.

I know this mostly sounds negative but I don't want to go into detail about the whole show or what songs were done. That would be very boring and senseless. Go to the show and see it for yourself. You will not be disappointed. It kicks ass!
