Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Michael J. Rozlog

Just got back from the KISS concert in Columbus Ohio. I don't want to ruin anything that KISS does during the show, but I must say... it is time for the makeup to come off. I have seen them quite a few times now with and without the makeup. I thought the first concert with the makeup was GREAT, but I was expecting a little more from them this concert. The "show" was great, the "entertainment" was great, the "music" was poor. Maybe I'm in the minority anymore, but I liked the old band, but I also thought that Bruce Kulick was a great guitar player and if I'm not mistaken played with the band longer than any other guitar player... even ACE. I understand that most people will disagree with my comments but, I really think PETER needs something... like new arms, my wife had a very bad thought in the middle of the "drum" solo, she was thinking the whole time that the drummer from Def Leppard had a better drum solo and he only has one arm. I don't want to take anything away from the band, they are my favorite, and I support them with everything they bring out, even if it is the rehash stuff, again, and again! But truely Eric Carr and Eric Singer crushed PETER. GENE SIMMONS said it best on the KISS Exposed video, Eric Carr killed "peter as a drummer from beginning to end". I was glad to see the group as a whole give a little more to ACE, it did not seem to be the same solos as the last concert set. The 3D worked pretty well and the pyro was top-notch and I think this is why I say the "show and entertainment" were great, but GENE really had a few problems getting his voice to project right and they seem to cut off BETH with only one verse, thank the maker for that... I hate that pumped in orchestra music. Back when the old members (ACE and PETER) were not in the band, you could go to a concert and hear a few 70s songs. I just wish they would give the same respect for some of the stuff they did in the 80s and 90's, especially stuff off of the REVENGE album. I understand that these comments most likely won't sit well with the masses, but as I said being a long time supporter of KISS, I can only hope in the future that PAUL lives up to his comments in the KISS Konfidential video, "We're not ashamed of our past, we just don't want to live on it!"
