Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Steve Reliage

I was at the Dayton, Ohio concert, and let me tell you, it ROCKED! I'm not sure who the opening act was, but they sucked. They kinda reminded me of Badness (a notoriously bad rock band on the internet for anyone who hasn't heard. http://members.aol.com/vladness). All of their songs sounded like the one before. They didn't warm the crowd up at all. They just sucked. Anyway, eventually, they vacated the premises and KISS took over.

I saw Kiss two years ago during the reunion tour and I can't remember them being this good. Gene's bass solo was spectacular. But then again, all the solos were. "Rock and Roll all Night" was just incredible. Blew me away. Everything seemed a lot bigger and a lot better this time. Last time, I didn't get to see Paul swing out into the audience and sing "Love Gun". It was a lot cooler than I thought it would be.

I heard someone say that the 3-D was just a novelty that wore off after the first couple of instruments in your face. Not so. This was one of the coolest aspects of the show. It was incredible. I have never seen anything like it. It did a great job of bringing the audience and the band closer together.

I think it would have been better if they had finished the show with "Rock and Roll all Night" instead of "Black Diamond". For there first encore, they came out and did Beth and "Detroit Rock City". "Detroit Rock City" is my favorite Kiss song, but it didn't come close to topping the spectacle of "Rock and Roll all Night". For their second encore, they did "Black Diamond". "Black Diamond" came close to topping "Rock and Roll All Night", and if they had to close with another song, this was certainly a good choice, but "Rock and Roll All Night", in my opinion was the highlight of the show, and probably should have been done last. Not that it matters much, though. I think this is probably the best concert I have ever been to.

And, of course, after Peter sang "Beth," Paul had to, once again, correct all the losers out in the audience with laser pointers.

And if Kiss should happen to read this, I do have a suggestion. Like a restaurant has a smoking section and a non-smoking section, perhaps you could create a weed section and a no weed section. This would enable those of us who don't long to relish the taste of a doobie to view the concert in a more enjoyable fashion.
