Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

Dayton - Dec. 11, 1998

This is the second time I've seen KISS, the first being the Reunion Tour. I saw them for their 3rd show of the tour (in Louisville). It was simply amazing!

Having seen them now a second time I am convinced that MOST of the thrill of seeing a KISS show can be attributed to the fact you are seeing them for the first time. "The Show" last night in Dayton confirms this. The thrill simply wasn't there.

If you read through the previous reviews posted by other KISS fans you have an accurate reflection of what you would have seen in Dayton. The set list was the same.....and a real disappointment. Within is a waste of time in concert. Gene was completely inaudible. I agree with previous comments about Peter - he was simply going through the motions. I think how cool it would be to hear such KISS greats as: I Stole Your Love, Christine Sixteen, Hotter Than Hell, Strutter, Watchin' You, I Was Made For Lovin' You, I Want You, etc. Don't hold your breath, though.

I was also discouraged to see the Nutter Center with about 1,000 empty seats. The crowd was decent, though.

Enough of the bad things. Here are some good points:

1) The usual assortment of awesome KISS songs (Deuce, SIOL, RRAN, Love Gun, etc.) were outstanding. I didn't here any missed chords or beats. The band is definitely well-rehearsed and sounding good.

2) I think the guys must have thrown 5,000 picks into the first 10 rows!!!!

3) The pyrotechnics were perfect.

4) The light show was perfect.

All in all it was worth seeing. After all, a marginal KISS show is infinitely better than most other shows....period. Spend the $43 and expect to get $44 worth of entertainment.
