Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Craig Jolley

KISS are Gods and they can do no wrong...

That being said, here is my blunt and honest review of New Years Eve in Detroit. It was disappointing to see KISS play in one of their biggest markets to a 3/4 full arena. Another part of me, however, felt like the promoters got what they deserved since they had the balls to stick a $100 dollar price tag on the tickets. Talk about alienating your fans.

The show held it's own for those seeing the original group for the first time: lots of explosions, blood, lights, and confetti. However, anybody who saw one of the reunion shows (or 3 times like myself) saw nothing new or exciting. The die hards knew when Ace was going to shoot rockets, when Paul was going to give the drinking and driving speech, and when Gene was going to fly up to the rafters and growl "Oh Yeah?"

The set list remained the same. I guess I was kidding myself to think they might throw in a few bonus songs in honor of New Years Eve or the Ben Franklin I dropped to get a ticket.

What I really want is a totally rehauled set list. Throw in RAISE YOUR GLASSES, YOU WANTED THE BEST, RIP IT OUT, and PARASITE. I also think it isn't such a bad idea to throw in some non-makeup classics like HEAVENS ON FIRE and CRAZY NGHTS! Who cares if that's "breaking the rules"??? Isn't that what this band is all about anyways??

Bottom Line: If you haven't seen the original KISS, run (don't walk) to go see the show. If you've been there and done that, pop in that bootleg video from '96 and enjoy!
