Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Jim McClanahan

The Indy show was the second for me on the Psycho Circus Tour. The first being Dodger stadium. I was wearing a shirt that had KISS wearing Dodger jerseys and hats. Everyone was looking at me like where the hell did I get that shirt.

The 3-D & video effects were a lot better than in L.A.. They seemed like they were more in synch with the concert. The band itself sounded a lot better than in Los Angeles. Kiss themselves sounded tighter plus the fact that the acoustics were bad at Dodger stadium. Gene looked a little tired, but Paul was full of his usual energy and was totally preoccupied with 4 beauties in the front row. The pyrotechniques were incredible as always.

The only problem was the set list. First off much shorter. NO "I was made for loving you," no "She," no "Makin Love," no "Nothing to Lose," all songs that had been played at some point in the tour or in Los Angeles. I would prefer to hear "Watchin' You." Here's the kicker the encore left out "Detroit Rock City." I couldn't believe it. I assumed there would be a second encore or something when they just played "Beth" and "Black Diamond," but that was it. I've seen Kiss about 50 times and never have they not played "Detroit Rock City." That's almost like not playing "Rock and Roll all Night." I wonder what was going on. I will seem them 12/18/98 in Rockford and 12/19/98 in Cedar Rapids.

Driving back to Iowa my friend and I both thought we saw an incredible show and had great seats, but all we could think about was why the hell didn't they play "Detroit Rock City." I do agree with most in that I like Rock and Roll all Night as the finale instead of "Black Diamond."
