Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Christian Pedersen

Being a KISS fan for 2/3 of my life, (iīm 30 years old), and living in Copenhagen, Denmark, it was really bad news to learn that KISS by some reason nobody knows had cancelled the show in Denmark 1-3-99 even before the sale went on. My only chance at that time to see the P.C. show was taking a very long trip to Göteborg, Sweden, but I didīnt get tickets before they were sold out in Denmark.(only 200 tickets went on sale in Denmark). It made me a little bit angry with the guys, Denmark has been included on every Europe tour since 1976,why not this time. Anyway, when the news came and told about the extra show in Kiel, Germany( a 4 hours ride from Copenhagen) Me and a friend just had to start the car and go there. And here comes the part where i wanna say a thing or two about how great KISS-fans are. Offcourse we didīnt know anything about where to buy tickets in a foreign country, so two days before the show i surfed into the German-Kiss page www.kissdeutschland.ge (check it out, great) and logged into the chat-room. After 3 minutes alot of great german KISS-fans helped me out with all the information i needed (thanks ace-girl & mike).

About the show. It startede with a surprise, a local Danish band from Copenhagen called Naturel Born Hippies were the opening act instead of Buckcherry, actually they did pretty good, in my opinion. I think it must be a very ungreatful job opening for KISS these years. The show started with Psycho Circus, the only one of the three P.C. songs in the show that works live, Within & into.. does not fit in. The guys seemed fit and tight and rocked just as great as the two shows I saw on the reunion tour. But i donīt understand, as a many other fans, why itīs allmost the same set-list as last tour. I really miss: makinīlove, take me, hard luck woman, strutter, room service, tommorrow and tonite and many more, and iīm tired of hearing king of the nitetime world, do you love me and calling dr. love. And why dont do Raise youre glasses and you wanted... from Psycho Circus. Well, thatīs just my opinion. The biggest surprise in the show was the solo from Peter Criss. He must really have trained himself hard. Haveīnt heard him play that good since 1977. The best part of the show that night, was Geneīs intro to God of thunder, ( the coolest man in the universe) + the song and rock and roll all night with the best confetti storm iīve ever seen. The "not so good part" of the show was Aceīs 2001 theme, it was way to much noise, and let me go rīnīr in a very slow beat. The WORST part of the show was that jerk who found it funny pointing a laser-pen at Gene, which made Paul wanted to kick that boys ass. The show stopped and the lights were pointing at the boy while Paul told him a thing or two about being a man or a boy and Gene starred him down. ( Ace and Peter stood and laughed !!) The second bad thing was the jerk who twice throwed a beer at Paul when he came down to do love gun from the little stage. Jerks like that donīt belong at a party like this Anyway, as usually a great night/party with the biggest rockband ever. I just hope it wasnt the last time to see them in Europe??!!.

By the way: The knee protekting thing Paul is wearing on his left knee, is the same thing athletics use when they have had serious damegged with the band ( called crossband) that runs behind the knee. Thats all folks.... Yours sincerly Christian Pedersen. ( I was home in Copenhagen 05.00 in that morning at had to go to work at 08.00!!!!!!!!)
