Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: KCFAN1111@aol.com

You wanted a concert review? How about this: KISS KICKS ASS!! I read the other reviews, and yes...there were a few "minor" glitches to the show, but with an event of this magnatude, how could there not be? Here are my "negative" thoughts on the show...then I'll get to the stuff I really liked.

First, I was disappointed that they didn't play more stuff from the new CD. It was a no-brainer to know that Psycho Circus would open the show....it was written to open shows! But there's a lot of really good stuff on that disc, they should play more of it!

Secondly, it seemed as if Gene was silent for almost the whole first hour of the show. I didn't understand it....he wasn't even doing as much "strutting" as usual. Odd.......for a while I thought maybe he was sick. There are a lot of great "Gene" songs (as we all know) but they were absent from the play list.

Okay....now the good stuff! Visually, the show was great. I loved the lighting and they pyrotechnics were really cool! They really pulled out all the stops.......The firework show at the end was awesome! I thought it'd never end! The play list was good...... not great, but good. There were a few surprises thrown in (Let Me Go, Rock and Roll....who'd have guessed?). Mixed up very well. I sometimes find myself thinking I know what the next song will be due to the three live albums and the '96-'97 tour. But they changed things up nicely. However, am I the only one that wishes they'd play some of the later stuff...I mean some of the "Revenge" tunes? I mean, so what if those songs weren't done with the original line up? There's still a lot of great music to be played from that era. KISS is KISS!

Lastly, the 3-d stuff worked and was really cool. However, the pre-recorded video worked better than the live stuff. When it was live, you could see depth to the screen, but it wasn't really that "coming-at-you" look. The screens were big and from my seat, that was a good thing! Over-all, the stage was cool, lights were cool and the band ROCKED! At times, the sound was a little off, but I guess that comes from trying to play to a stadium. On a scale from 1-10.......I'd say that over-all the show was a 9. Better than the Forum shows of 2 years ago. Yeah, there were some empty seats, but I think that's only because everyone was standing the whole time!
