Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: John Malatesta

The Psycho Circus Tour was in full swing on Halloween Night. Circus acts performed by professional magicians kicked things off (out where the baseball diamond is located) and these people provided their entertainment prior to the music taking center. After the first set of circus acts were complete, the Smashing Pumkins went up on stage (located in center field back toward the outfield seats) and played their set list.

Proceeding the Pumkins, there would be another segment of magicians performing circus style stunts to the delight of the spectators, and following these events, Kiss would take the stage and take control of the rest of the night.

The crowd got a great reaction out of the Pycho Circus song that kicked off the show and of course the crowd got off on all of the hits from the seventies! "Within," didn't get a great reaction in the area that I was seated, and the live version of "Into The Void," was only okay but the Ace guitar solo however did bring back a loud roar of the crowd. Paul flew over the crowd located on ground level during Love Gun, and a funny highlight during Ace's guitar solo was when he got on the microphone and said "this other guitar is too young to smoke." Peters playing was fantastic and the band sounded great as a whole from this viewers thinking.

For those interested, the Stadium was filled with a lot of people but it did not look to be sold out. There was a section of yellow empty seats seen directly behind home plate through out the show, and the forth level had a sections of empty seats too. As a whole this shouldn't be anything for anybody to cry home to mommy about in the sense that the empty seats where all located in the typical nose bleed area, and hats off to the fans like myself, and thousands of other supporters who were there in the nose bleed to see our original Kiss! All of the fans who were present showed their support as the noise level heard from the crowd was just unbelieveable, and helicopters circling the stadium through out the night put in cement that the nightlife in L.A. belonged to Kiss on Halloween Night.
