Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Ernie Harris

Well here we go,here we are at the Psycho Circus. This show was the 14th time for me since 1975 (8 makeup, 6 non). Been a fan since Feb. 74 so I have come to expect alot from this band. We arrived from Tennessee around 8:35 to Rupp Arena after a 5 hour drive. We missed "Crush" but thats ok. We will catch them in Nashville later. The arena was about 3/4 full, the makeup was present and a mix of young and old to see the event. The hour of 9:00 finally arrived and the lights went down. The sound you heard drove right throught your heart. The seats rattled and the spotlights were everywhere searching the madness in the arena. Then the intro was shouted out and POW the curtain was down and off we ride.

"Psycho" opened the shoe of course. The sound really never got off the ground. The sound was very muddy. Psycho Circus in my opinion is the worst opening song they have done in years. A change here would be good, You Wanted the Best would work here. They moved from Psycho into Shout it out Loud. The sound got better here as Deuce Rocked. The guys lacked the energy they had on the last tour, but they did turn it up later. I guess age is a factor for a 2 hour show. Before Do You Love Me? Paul tells us to put on our 3-D glasses. Yes the effects were good and well worth it, at times people were really getting into the 3-D stuff. Must see it. The Psycho clown told us the rest of the show when to use our glasses.

Music continued with Firehouse, Shock Me, Let Me go R-n-R, Dr. Love, Into the Void (Ace Solo), King of the Night Time World. Ace played well this show. Gene looked good during the bass, blood solo. the red lights and smoke were great. God of Thunder Started as Gene flew to his platform. Within (muddy sound) and Pete's solo. Drum effect was nice. Cold Gin was good. During this song they seemed to pick up the pace on stage.Paul came out to see us during Love Gun. 100,000 Years, R-nR all nite (excellent effects). Encore included Beth, Detroit, and Black Diamond. Paul's rhythm solo before BD rocked the house Good Night.

Final thoughts-New fans will enjoy the show. Older fans will need a change by next tour.3-D effects did work. Need some different songs to keep the interest there. Next-Nashville Jan 2- taking mt daughter and friends to the show. Should be great.Tenth row seats.See the Circus.
