Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Jack Bohl

Here's my take on the Madison show:

1. The sound sucked! Maybe it had something to do with my seat location, (5th row in front of Ace) but I doubt it since the opening band's sound was fine. There was a very loud constant low hum through out the entire show from Gene's bass drowning out everything. That's partially why the people that I noticed did'nt get into the show much.

2. The Dane County Expo center is very small. Probably a capacity of 10,000 at best for a concert. Kiss drew maybe 6 or 7,000. Should've been an easy sell out. Even on their worst sounding night Kiss is the best show in town. I guess the Kiss novelty has worn off for many.

3. Paul forgot where he was not once but twice. At the show's beginning he was about to say something in refrence to Madison but suddenly forgot the city's name. Later in the show Paul said something like "How ya doin tonight Milwauwuuuoooya!!" Nice cover up Paul but some of us were sober enough to catch that.

4. Ace was toasted. No doubt in my mind. Either that or he's got the worst balance i've ever seen. It took him 4 tries (during his solo) to hook his guitar on the wire hanging down fron the rigging while losing his balance over and over. At one point he took a swipe at the wire with his other hand out of frustration and again lost his balance. It was very obvious at this point and many people around me started to laugh a little. You could see the comotion in the crowd as people started to talk about what they were seeing. I actually felt kind of bad for Ace.

5. Paul did not fly nor did Gene, The place was too small for that. Paul made way too many sexual gestures and was too concerned with the way he looked. I know that's Paul but it was really too much. Hey Paul, play that damn guitar.

6. I HAVE PRETTY GOOD PHOTOS OF THE SHOW. Let me know what file format you want them in otherwise they will be jpeg. I will email them to you.

SUMMARY-

Though I've been critial of the show don't get me wrong. Seeing their mistakes and problems made the show unique in it's own way. And i'm very glad I was there. Ecxept for the sound, it was great to see Kiss again (even if it was my second show in a week). Hey Ace, thanks for the pick.
