Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Kurt

I went to see the boys last night in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and I must admit the last tour was better. One of the special highlights was that it was Peter's birthday and so the whole b-day ritual took place. The set list was a repeat of the reunion tour with the exception of the 3 new songs they are playing everywhere. No other suprises were there though. The sound was not that good, although it is a new arena, other bands have sounded bad there as well. Peter was playing very soft and they really had the guitars burring him. There was no "kick" in the music like when Eric Singer was playing. Don't get me wrong, Pete is the original guy and has his place. All I am saying is that the over all feel for the songs weren't there and you could tell that Paul wasn't getting off on the music like he did with the Revenge lineup.

The 3-D effects were an excellent production! It's was hard to pick the screens or the band to watch at certain points. Paul did very little stage rap, no flying Gene, but Ace had a cool new guitar trick at the end of Rock N Roll All Night. It's always a pleasure to see KISS and we are fortunate that they still choose to tour. Anyway, who the hell am I to write a critique of them, after all, They are the reason I play music today. But on that same hand I am a huge fan and collector, and so that puts me in a whole other category- the fans who also love to hate. Milwaukee isn't a real big town, and we aren't as rowdy as the folks down in Chicago, but I remember hearing Paul say "Well, Milwaukee, it doesn't sound like you people are into it that much tonight, and that's OK." Which is not like Paul to give up on a crowd, and besides, they received ALOT of applause after every number without fail. But, the band seemed to be eager to leave so, the end of Black Diamond was rushed, there were missed chords and the pyro didn't line up with the cymbal crashes, and then they left. No thank you's no bow's, no see you soon Milwaukee. I don't know maybe we pissed them off. There were plenty of girls in the front flashing and playing with themselves for the boys so, I guess it didn't look too bad to me. I hope they improve the leg of the tour, as I plan on going to Madison and Chicago next week. If they are coming to your town soon, go to the show, support the band, but don't expect to be blown away by the set list and music alone, it won't happen. but I'd like to say again that I am only a man just like them, and I have had bad nights and things like that. I am no critic. I love KISS, I'm glad to see them around and playing, they always find a way to inspire me even though every time I see them may not be the best KISS I have ever seen. Thanks for reading, go see the show and have a good time! (After all, that's why there here. We could have gotten stuck with Pearl Jam! Thanks to KISS for being around!)
