Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: William Veazey

Well, overall the show was pretty good. Had 2nd row on Ace's side. The setlist was as expected, no surprises. Begins with Psycho Circus in which within the first 2 minutes Ace takes a dive right in front of me. Then into Shout It Out Loud, Deuce, Do You Love Me, Firehouse (Gene breathes fire), Shock me, Let Me Go Rock 'N' Roll, Calling Dr. Love, Into The Void (Ace's solo, 2001 Theme), King of the Nighttime World, (Gene spits blood/flies) God of Thunder, Within (Peter's Solo), Cold Gin, Love Gun (Paul flies to the center of the audience), 100,000 Years, Rock and Roll All Nite (Great confetti blowing all over the entire arena). The encores were Beth, Detroit Rock City, and, yes, you guessed it Black Diamond (phenomenonal version with excellent visuals). The 3D stuff doesn't really work with me and I was in the 2nd row, therefore I will not comment about it. The stage looked decent, there was no wall of amps, nor any staircases which I would love to see. Excellent fire during God of Thunder and 100,000 Years. And again outstanding finale with Black Diamond. The only real negatives of the show was that there have been virtually no changes in the setlist. They axed about 5 tunes from last tour and added 3 from the new album. Also Within was not very good. Drop it and play someting like She or Nothin' To Lose or Watchin' You. Saw them 4 times on the last tour 6th row or better all on Gene's side. I enjoyed being on Ace's side for a change, ended up with 2 picks also. Enjoy the show when they come back to the US.
