Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Joe Summa

I was lucky enough to attend both the meadowlands show and the Garden, but the garden is the basis of my review, and the first word I have to say is WOW!!!! I saw two shows at M.S.G on the 96-97 tour and they were great, but this night in New york there was something else going on. It was just a vibe that was so fun and intense. It helped that I scalped front row center tickets, but I must say that the night before at the Meadowlands I was farthur back and the 3-d was awesome, unexpectedly awesome. The band was much tighter on this tour. From the explosive beginning of the show with "psycho Circus" to the final legendary A chords of "Black Diamond", the band gave everyone a supercharged show. Gene was especially fun, taking quite liking to the girl next to me and not being shy about it at all( i wish my toungue was that long!) The set list was smart, mostly old classics and a few off the new album. My only gripe is that they picked Within as one of the new ones, its not a bad song, but "I pledge allegiance" or "you wanted the best" would have gone over much better. Within is just two draggy of a song, and they had to play it a half step higher since on the album that is one of the songs they tuned their intruments normally for( I dont know why since everything else is tuned down a half step) I thik this was a poor choice since it would have been easier to play the song the way they did on the album( in D) since they tune down live it would have been easier to sing. Only guitar or bass players will have any clue what Im talking about so let me wrap it up by saying that this is a show ill always remember, and if you havent seen Kiss up real close do yourself a favor and get up there because its a whole new world and youll know how unbeleivable they really are.
