Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Jim Linsky

Having first seen KISS as a 15 year old in 1977,and twice more since then, including the reuion tour,I knew what to expect as I arrived at the Portland Civic Center. Econoline Crush was a fair opening, and as usual fans wanted to hear no one but Kiss, so the reaction was not overwhelminly positive.

When Kiss hit the stage however, the surge forward by the mob on the floor was overwhelming.I was easily pushed forward 20 feet, and found myself not more than 30 feet from the stage.

Up close it was easy to see the age on the faces of the band, but their obvious joy at being back on the road was also visible. They were laughing and smiling at one another,as shout it out loud started to play. I must say that musically, the band was not that tight.Gene was having problems with the output volume on his bass, and Paul is not the vocalist he once was. However, as always, the show that these men put on is uncomparable to anything else in rock. All the classic moves, from firebreathing during"Firehouse",to blood spitting and flying during God of Thunder,to Ace's flying ,smoking guitar,to Peter's rising drum kit, were enhanced by the pretty effective 3-D movie playing behing the band.

All in all -there is no-one who can outperform these guys, young or old,and if you are thinking about going to see them,YOU SHOULD GO!!!!!!
