What a show!!! My third one in five days. I also caught both Boston shows. General admission too. My buddy and I watched the entire show from the second row. It was great to see the guys so close. Unbelievable!!! We both caught guitar picks from Paul too. This was my first time seeing a show in Portland. The Civic Center was pretty small. Paul made a comment about the venue after 'Shout It Out Loud', saying that size doesn't matter. The crowd was crazy though. They were ready for KISS. I'm a die hard, so I was looking forward to the show after the Friday night show in Boston. Not a lot of good looking girls though...Gene must have been upset. The set was the same as it was the second night in Boston. I preferred the order on the first Boston show.

The band sounded good, a little bit looser than the Boston shows. There were a couple of mistakes. Something funky happened on 'Into The Void.' I'm not sure who messed up. It was either Gene, Paul, or Ace...not Peter!!! He messed up on 'Black Diamond.' He forgot to play the drum fill that leads into Ace's outro solo. Pretty funny. He started to keep time when the drum riser levitates. Gene and Paul were following Ace who was already soloing. He finally caught on. Gene and Paul were laughing. The only other mistake happened during '100,000 Years.' Ace was off time during the middle section. Gene and Paul were trying to get his attention, but he was in space...his own world. He realized just before Paul started to sing again.

The best song of the night was 'King Of The Nighttime World.' It rocked. I'm still not sure if I like Peter's solo at the end of 'Within.' I'd like to either hear it in 'God Of Thunder' or maybe even '100,000 Years' for this tour. I'm not sure if 'Makin' Love' will last in the set. It seemed real slow last night for some reason. Peter doesn't feel comfortable on it. Still waiting to hear 'You Wanted The Best' and some old classics like 'Got To Choose', 'Flaming Youth', and 'Love 'Em Leave 'Em.' Overall, great show. The closest I've ever been to the stage too.
