Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: DDG71@aol.com

It was the first night of two on the Psyco Tour for me, First Rchester then in Buffalo! I have to admit that i was shocked to see the back of the arena empty, not even close to a sell out. But i am a fan from the eighties so I am used to this sort of thing. Econoline Crush opened and they were not bad. By far the best opening band i have seen for Kiss since the reunion has started. I should mention i had floor seats but do to them selling to many floor tickets our section was moved to the right hand side of the stage (Ace Frehley's side) in the stands. I was thrilled because our seats were going to suck but now we had a great view of the band. We had a side view of everthing and when Kiss came up on the speaker they were right there, and i got Gene's attention once by waving my hands at him. Anyways we were seated at the side and I saw Gene's bass tech walking up our way. I said Hi and asked him if he could get me a guitar Pick and he looked at me and said NO!! (prick) He seemed like a real asshole. But you probaly would have to be to put up with Gene.

The lights went down and Kiss was led to the stage and the annoucer yelled YWTB, YGTB and no matter how many times I hear that in concert it gives me goose bumps. Kiss started and the curtin dropped and everyone was on there feat. Psyco sounded great much better than the Live on Fox special. Great opeaning song. Next was Shout and the crowd really got into it. Paul then asked who has the first album and the broke into duece. I have to complain here, the song sounded awesome but at the end where the do the swaying part, they were not lined up right and it was so half assed why bother doing it. It looks terrible. But i just kind of laughed, and thought Paul must really hate having to go that. I cant remember every song in the order they were played but Let me go sounded great, really got the crowd into it. Shock Me was good. Into the Void started out really cool and the crowd was into it but near the end Ace started to do his usual half ass singing the part were he sings " im being pulled im being pulled down" Was really off time. He was late singing that part like five times in a row. Ace I have to say was king of draging ass all over the stage. I thought he ruled on the 96 tour but here he was sluggish, I almost had the feeling maybe he was ill. But it was minor you know Ace is Ace, he played great he was just slow moving. Anyways God of thunder rocked and also i have to admitt Peter is ten times the drummer he was on the reunion tour, song like duece were up to speed like on the Alive album, I was very impressed. Within started out really fucked up, but when they got the momentum going the song was great live and I know it will be a great Live song when they work out the bugs. Peter's drum solo was cool and Ace's solo where he shoots the rockets up into the lights and it looks like a peice of the lighting truss is coming down was really cool everbody in our section gasped and then lauged when they saw it was only fome.

Gene looks really skinny also, he has lost a lot of weight, and paul has put on a few pounds. Both of them where great ond they are the heart and soul of Kiss, they are the reason for Kiss being what it is and i dont care what anybody says. Its Paul and Gene that keeps Kiss proffesional. Sorry if the review it a little fragmented but im typing as i remeber the show, Beth was great, by far the best i have ever heard peter sing that song. But the usaual jerks were their with there lasers, and peter looked really upset after singing beth, Peter stayed up front and was talking to Paul and Gene and then got on the mike and said "im just telling Paul about the lasers" and i think he wanted to go off on someone but i think Paul and Gene kind of got him away from the mike and back to his drums. Rock - N- all Night sould end the show. as much as i hate that song theses days it should end the show, Black Diamond could if the had the Cherry Pickers with them but they dont Peter did not even have the cats on his drums. His drums go up the rest of em just stand there and its over. It should be rock en roll all night. But overall the show was great I enjoyed it and also my wife's two sisters came to the show, one is 16 and the other 21 and they thought it was awesome. Really impressed. I wish they would mix it up a little. Making Love wasnt even played tonight. The only new songs were off of Pysco. If only the hardcore fans are going then play for the hardcore fans. I loved it though i will be there tonight in Buffalo and i will submitt a review for that show too, if anyone want to e-mail me DDG71@aol.com By the way i cou;dnt really see the 3-d because of the angle from where i was sitting but ill see it tonight.
