Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Jakob Lipczynski

Hello KISS Army! Finally KISS (the Gods of thunder) arrived to Stockholm. Honestly I actually saw the show 2/3 also but I rather make i review on the second night. Why? My reply is: The audience (please correct my spelling). Anyway back to the show. Stockholm Globe Arena is a 13.000 seater and it was packed. Okey some chairs were empty so I guess it was about 12.800 there. (Exactly as the first night.) At 8:35 p.m the lights shut down and the crowd went nuts.

The show: A perfect show. I first saw KISS in Stockholm in November 1980 on the Unmasked Tour. Ever since Iīve seen KISS in Stockholm every time theyīve been here. That is 9 shows. And the show tonight I put on second just after the reunion show back in december 6 1996. Well actually i prefer the new stage but the reunion show was very special. Anyway, the band was very, very tight. The sound was perfect. The crowd was even better. Awesome is the word and the band could really feel it too. Peter was smiling and having the time of his life (at least it looked like that). Cool thing nr.1: Bruce Kulick was there (both nights) on the floore next to the stage (left side second night, right side first night) and Gene and Paul used to run over to him and fool around. Cool thing nr 2: My friend Lars did get the guitar the first night. Cool thing nr 3: I did get a Paul plectrum (first night). Lots of pyro and smoke and the confettistorm in RARAN was great.

The 3-D: I donīt know. I didnīt see anything but my wife and daughter and my best friends said it was cool. They had different seats then I.

Paul: Didnīt run around as he use to do. He had some kind of protection on his left knee and I guess his knee isnīt perfect. Even though he did a great job and it looks like he loves the flying.

Gene: The god of thunder was the demon heīs supposed to be even though he smiles more nowdays.

Peter: Peter rules and thatīs a fact. Peter has never been my favourit but I must confess that Peter has been the king for two nights (specially second night) now. A totally different drummer than the reunion tour. The drum solo is awesome.

Ace: My god didnīt dissapoint me. Shock me ruled and so did he. Into the void was a little noisy the first night but was perfect second night. (Everything was perfect second night).

The set list: This is the minus part of the show. It starts perfect with Psycho Circus. Actually it works better than I thougt. Paul sings it a little different than the record and it sounds just perfect. The rest of the set is exactly as the U.S tour. Wait here. I was made... is a standar track here in Europe..and donīt remember if it was that in the U.S? Why donīt KISS put in songs like "Nothing to lose", "She" or "Making Love". I know they can play these songs. According to romours (spell??) the did "She" on the soundcheck in Helsingfors. Just listen to the bootleg (Welcome to the show) from Dodger Stadium 31/10-98. "Nothing to lose" rules that night. WHY is it gone? WHYYY?

Bootlegs: Sure thereīs gone pop up some bootlegs from Stockholm. On the KISS Expo, held the 3/3 just before the second show, I met a young man who actually filmed the first night. He had the camera so we stod there and watched the show. He had done a great job on the filming. Kind of cool to watch the show just a day after. He also was going to shoot the secod show so I hope it went well. He was also going to shot one of the shows in Gothenborg. (By the way. KISS opened the first show in Gothenborg with "Detroit Rock City"!!!!!!!????. "I was made... came as second encore!!!???) The first night in Stockholm was recorded on a mini disc CD by someone I know but he missed some parts when he changed disk but he was gone make a new try the second night.

All in all I rate the first night a 7/10 and the second night 9/10. It would have had 10/10 if the set list have had some more suprises.
