Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Kurt Cruppenink

Well, after a 15 year hiatus I have finally got to see my favorite band again. The Hulman Civic Center was a very small, intimate venue for a show. Every seat was great though the show was far from a sell-out. The lead band Econoline Crush wasn't worth much but they were off stage in a half hour. The circus banner that hides the stage fell prematurely and they had to set it back up but it didn't slow the show up much. The set was pretty much the same as has been posted previously. I, like most others, could do without Within. The 3-D has its moments but I kept the glasses off most of the time. As for the stars, there is no doubt that Ace Frehley carried the show. His guitar was smoking and he had a much greater role in the show than he used to back in the 70's. Paul didn't seem to have his usual energy and the vocals were not clear at times. Gene seemed like he wasn't impressed with the crowd response. All he wanted to do was make everyone clap their hands all the time. The older composition of the crowd seemed to make it more reserved though everyone seemed to be having a great time. Peter definately doesn't seem to be very motivated anymore. His drum solo was really sort of lame. Pyro's were good but it was Paul's flying out into the crowd for Love Gun that really brought the place down. RARAN was tremendous. I thought the band might to one more song after Black Diamond to pay tribute to the home of the Kiss Army but they didn't. All in all, as usual they are worth the price of the ticket. Hopefully, it won't take me fifteen years to see them again.
