Psycho Circus Tour Reviews

From: Jim Dobravec

Well it was my first time to a KISS concert and I wasn't dissappointed! When they were in their prime in the seventies, I was too young to go. So now was my chance with all original members, here's how it went:

Lots of limos and people with their faces painted and lots of black leather. It was sort of like Halloween! So we got in and got through security and got our 3D glasses and went to find our seats. That was around 8:00 I think.

At around 8:30 the house lights went off and they announced the band in standard fashion. The stage was incredible. It was all hidden behind these giant curtains which dropped as they opened into Psycho Circus. It was definitely more than a rock event. They had Gene Simmons lifted up via cables about 40' above the stage to another platform where he played from there for God of Thunder. Paul Stanley got onto a trapeze type cable and was carried out to where the mixing console is where he literally played in the middle of the crowd about 75' away from the stage for Love Gun! Good thing he had the large platforms so he could put his heel in the bar and not slip off!

The drummer Peter Criss during his solo had the whole drum kit and his stage lift off about 15' and move towards the front of the stage while he played and they had 4 little jets shooting out the bottom to make it look like he was on a spaceship! Great solo, awesome sound! Ace Frehley smoked one guitar and had some fireworks spin off the neck during Rock n Roll All Nite. Speaking of fireworks, they were awesome. they had these four torches that they lit up for about 5 seconds periodically and you could feel the heat way up where we were so they were pretty hot! The grand finale had all the fireworks explosions you could imagine and confetti fell during the whole song. It looked like it was snowing! They played a lot of old songs 74-78 and the new album. The sound was great! They were also presented their gold records from the record company and were told that the album went gold here first before the U.S. during the middle of the show!

They did three encore songs before saying good night after about 2hrs of entertainment. Oh yeah the 3D stuff was on the screens and one camera was there filming them for the screens so you saw that in 3D. Best 3D effect for me was the KISS Army flag. It was almost like in your face. They were also were taping some of it because I saw they had shotgun mikes near the edge of the stage to pick up the audience sounds. Everyone in the audience sang the songs with the band which created a real electric atmosphere! If you a chance to go see it you will not be dissappointed!
