KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Roger Barnes
I can die now. I have seen what I consider to be the best ever KISS show! Simply brilliant! From DRC to RARAN & everything in between. The band seem to be having more fun than they have in years, & it all makes for a much more energetic & enjoyable experience. Individually I thought:

GENE: Had a great time. Voice sounded great & all his stunts went well. Forgot the words to RARAN (he has only sang it about 10,000 times!) But all in all it was a great performance from our Demon!

ACE: What can you say about Ace. As always spaced out. Nailed all his solos pretty much, except Psycho Circus came out a bit off. Ace was Ace!

PAUL: As always, Paul ruled! He really is the ultimate showman. Showed what a great voice he has with the extended intro/medley to Black Diamond.

ERIC: Its almost a case of saving the best for last. Eric was phenomenal! Cymbal catches, stick twirls, flaming drum sticks, Eric did it all! A magnificent performance from a truely great drummer!

Some surprises were:

Paul, during the intro to Black Diamond, played about half of Hard Luck Woman! It was too cool! The crowd was going nuts! He then played all of Shandi before going into BD. During the medley, Paul cranked out 2000 man! Ace didnt seem to know what song it was! When it came time for him to sing, he was nowhere near the mic. Gene & Paul were laughing at him, so he starts playing New York Groove. Cool stuff.

Pauls Flying Fox stunt was really high. He was about 30 feet from the floor! It was wild. He was really hanging on to the handstrap tight.

During the song RARAN, Gene forgot the line "your looking fancy & I like your style" & he ended up singing "I need some drugs to sing this song" It was really funny. Ace, during his solo, hung his guitar on the hook while it was still smoking. Most recent videos Ive seen, its normally finished smoking but it was cool to see it float up to the ceiling still pumping out smoke.

Erics solo included his much talked about flaming sticks. Hes going a million miles an hour on the double kick & he flings his regular sticks out to the crowd. A roadie passes him 2 sticks on fire & he goes nuts on the drums. Its amazing!

I could mention about 1000 more great moments from this show but all I can say is I hope that KISS does tour Europe & one more round of the U.S. because all fans should get a chance to see the Ultimate KISS Lineup!
