KISS Farewell Tour Reviews

From: Jerry Cornish
I must say that last night's Anaheim show was one to remember! LOL

I loved it... technical problems and all. The band were really tight and most importantly laughing and playing around with each other the whole time. Ace was smiling and laughing a lot as were the rest of the guys. One of the personal highlights was when Paul was talking about drinking and driving, Ace pretending to be a drunk driver and "crashed" his himself into Peter's drum riser. LOL Ace even did some dancing last night and went up on the stairs to start Cold Gin.

I was really impressed with all the pyro. There was more fire last night then I've ever seen at a KISS show - or at least more then I can remember. The confetti/streamer storm during RNRAN was endless - plenty for all the floor to take home for souvenirs.

Our seats (me, a friend, Mattman and Sacto Patti) were in the 16th row in the center section on the right aisle - simply awesome! Paul was supposed to fly right over our heads but of course he didn't make it out that far. He kept looking our way and shrugging his shoulders and making that "Ooops" face! It was classic. I loved it when he got back to the stage and restarted Love Gun and signaled for his guitar tech to bring him another guitar. The tech rushes out with another guitar, takes Paul's non working one and rushed back to the side of the stage with *both* guitars in his hand. Paul just stands at his mic, puzzled. The guy realized what he did, threw the non working one to somebody else and rushed the working one to Paul. What a night! LOL

Anyway, the whole show was just great since the guys were really genuinely having a good time. I don't care what anybody says, you could tell they weren't acting; it was real. Also, the musical highlights were Ace's solo and 2,000 Man. What a refreshing change. I was only slightly disappointed that they dropped the first encore (either Stole Your Love or I was Made) but the show was so memorable, it doesn't matter in the long run.

Next up.... Oakland!
